TULSA, Okla. – Texas A&M men’s tennis will be represented by three singles players and the top-seeded doubles team in the 2019 ITA Men’s Tennis All-American Championship main draw at the Case Tennis Center on the campus of Tulsa University on Wednesday.
In the singles main draw, No. 13 Carlos Aguilar earned the No. 6 seed and will take on Lukas Grief of Florida in the first round. No. 16 Hady Habib is set to be one of the first student-athletes on the courts on Wednesday against No. 75 Yuta Kikuchi of Cal. No. 45 Valentin Vacherot rounds out the Aggies in the singles bracket, the A&M senior is set to face off against No. 21 Adria Soriano Barrera of Miami.
In doubles action, No. 1 Aguilar and Barnaby Smith will open the tournament against Henrik Korsgaard and Brandon Perez of Virginia Tech.
Korsgaard and Perez bested A&M’s duo of Habib and Pranav Kumar in the final round of the qualifying doubles draw on Tuesday. In the singles qualifying, Noah Schachter fell 6-2, 7-6(3) to Jacob Fearnley of TCU in the second round. No. 72 Smith bounced back from a setback on Monday to defeat Siem Woldeab of Texas in the consolation bracket.
The tournament’s qualifying draw concluded on Tuesday with the main draw opening on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and finishing with the singles and doubles finals on Oct. 13.
