The application deadline is October 4.

News release from United Way of the Brazos Valley:

Burleson, Madison, Robertson and Washington counties have been awarded federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the State Set Aside process of the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.

These counties will be granted the following award amounts to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the counties:

• Burleson – $6,000.00
• Madison – $6,000.00
• Robertson – $8,075.00
• Washington – $20,000.00

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) was created in 1983 to supplement and expand the work of local social service agencies, both nonprofit and governmental, to help people with economic emergencies (not disaster-related [i.e., fires of any kind, floods, tornadoes, etc.] emergencies).

Therefore, EFSP funds are not to be used to provide economic assistance for circumstances that are the immediate result of a disaster situation.

Any organization working to cover a broad spectrum of the residents in these counties in the areas of emergency food, shelter, and utility needs is invited to apply.

Funds are only available for social service agencies and individuals do not qualify for this grant.

Visit www.uwbv.org/efsp for more information and to download an application.

Applications are due to United Way of the Brazos Valley by 5:00 pm on October 4, 2019.

A meeting of the local FEMA Emergency Food & Shelter Board will be held on October 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the United Way of the Brazos Valley, 1716 Briarcrest Dr., Ste. 155, Bryan, TX 77802.
