College Station City Council Hears From Citizens Opposed To A Proposed Property Tax Increase

Thursday’s College Station city council meeting included its first public hearing about a proposed tax rate increase in the next year’s budget.

Brien Smith was one of three speakers against the increase.

Mike Lee brought up the combination of the tax rate increase and rising property values.

Holt Carlo didn’t understand the need for additional police officers when the city is considered to be safe.

Council members decided to schedule time at their next meeting to discuss public comments.

The next meeting, which is September 12th, is also another public hearing on the proposed tax rate increase.
