A Houston man is in the Brazos County jail after he was arrested Friday afternoon by Bryan police on fraud charges. 27 year old Christopher Elliott is accused of attempting to cash a check for 88 hundred dollars from the Compass Bank on Briarcrest. According to the arrest report, a bank teller told police Elliott signed withdrawal forms that were not even close to matching the signature card of the account holder. The victim told officers he had no knowledge of the identity theft. Elliott remains in jail in lieu of bonds totaling $10,000 dollars.
The third time in four months a Bryan man has been in jail…and the 13th time in the last 18 months…is for possessing a lock pick. According to the Bryan police report, the officer considered the pick as a tool for vehicle burglaries and stealing motorcycles. 28 year old Cody Massey, who was described as a known vehicle burglar, said he used the pick to change cell phone screens. Massey, who is out of jail after posting a $2,000 dollar bond for unlawful use of a criminal instrument, pleaded guilty in May to two misdemeanor thefts that took place last year and was given credit for time served.
