There is a new principal at Sul Ross elementary school in Bryan. That’s after former principal Kristina Brunson moved to the central office, and the Bryan school board selected her successor at a special meeting on Wednesday. Brunson’s successor is Amy Bay, who has spent the last four years in Navasota as principal at Brule elementary. Her career at Navasota ISD also included positions as an assistant principal and as a teacher.

Brunson starts July 1 as Bryan ISD’s assistant director of professional development. According to the BISD communications office, Brunson is filling a vacant position with some reorganization. Earlier this year, Melanie Rogers retired as assistant director of student interventions. That position isn’t being filled, and Kelli Norgaard is picking up several of Rogers’s responsibilities as well as some additional roles in the retitled position of school leadership director. Brunson will assume many of Norgaard’s previous duties and some additional duties as assistant director.
