No Opposition To Raising Water Rates And Conduct Water Rate Study In College Station

College Station households may be paying another four dollars a month for water, when the city’s new fiscal year begins in October.

A rate increase, combined with a rate study, received no opposition during a staff presentation at the last city council workshop.

Staff expressed a concern about maintaining proper reserves in the water fund.

Councilman John Nichols was among those expressing support for combining a rate study, the first in ten years, with any increase.

Mayor Karl Mooney pointed out the importance of generating utility revenue after state lawmakers lowered the cap on raising money from property taxes.
