A Brazos County district court jury received a guilty plea from a Hearne man to three local convenience store armed robberies. Then the jury sentenced 24 year old Devante Jefferson to 35 years in prison. According to the district attorney’s office, two of robberies took place two years ago this week. Jefferson was the gunman in the holdup at the Easy Shop on Harvey Mitchell Parkway south of Villa Maria, and the EZ Mart at Villa Maria and Finfeather. The DA’s news release also stated the jury heard about Jefferson’s involvement in a robbery of the Valero c-store on Harvey Road in College Station in May of 2017.

Another Brazos County district court jury spent about one hour this week to find a Bryan man guilty of indecent sexual contact with a ten year old girl. Sentencing will take place next month for 28 year old Joshua Figures, who has been in jail for more than two years. Since his booking, he was charged and is awaiting trial on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of another child.
