The driver of a SUV that rolled in the parking lot of two north Bryan businesses Thursday night was arrested for DWI. It’s the second time in five days and the 23rd time in 13 years that 35 year old Angela Lara has been in the Brazos County jail. According to the Bryan police arrest report, Lara’s SUV drove off a ledge in the parking lot of the Dairy Queen on Highway 21 west of the freeway and came to rest on the driver’s side between the restaurant and the Motel 6. Bryan firefighters removed Lara from her vehicle, and she was taken to the hospital. Lara told officers she crashed because did could not see because she did not have her contacts. Officers detected alcohol on her breath, and they found a partially consumed one pint bottle of vodka and two empty one pint bottles. At the time of the crash, Lara was out of jail on bond from an arrest last Sunday on a charge of family violence assault. And she is awaiting trial on a charge of driving with an invalid license.
The day after a Bryan man got out of jail on bond following his arrest on a charge of continuous violence against a family member, he is accused of violating a protection order. According to the Bryan police arrest report, a daycare facility was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon to due a disturbance created by 23 year old Jaquan Brown, who is out of jail again after posting bond from his latest arrest.
An 18 year old from College Station returns to the Brazos County jail for the fourth time in the last seven months. Eric Swinson is held on bond following his arrest by College Station police on two counts of misdemeanor theft. According to arrest reports, Swinson is accused of taking a laptop from a store at the mall on Tuesday, and taking a phone from an employee at a convenience store across the street from the mall last month. According to online records, Swinson has appeared in court on the three other cases and has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of vehicle burglary, possessing marijuana, and having no drivers license.
