Menefee Earns Freshman All-SEC Recognition

HOOVER, Alabama – Texas A&M left-handed pitcher Joseph “Moo” Menefee earned a spot on the Freshman All-SEC Team as the league announced its 2019 award winners Monday.

On the season, Menefee is 3-1 with a 2.97 ERA, .197 opponent batting average and 46 strikeouts in 33.1 innings over his 22 appearances. In SEC action, the Richmond, Texas native was 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA, .180 opponent batting average and 33 strikeouts in 24.2 innings.

Menefee has blossomed down the stretch. In his last five appearances, the lefty has retired 29 of 33 batters he has faced, scattering four singles while striking out 14 in 9.2 innings.

Other Aggies to earn Freshman All-SEC distinction include Nick Banks (2014), Hunter Coleman (2017), Logan Foster (2017) and Braden Shewmake (2017).

The Aggies return to action Tuesday when they open SEC Tournament play in Hoover, Alabama with a 9:30 a.m. contest against the Florida Gators.
