Brazos County commissioners have approved a contract to design what will replace the closed stretch of I & GN Road between Graham and Capstone.
Without discussion, a unanimous vote was made at this week’s meeting on the $132,000 dollar contract with the county’s outside engineering consultants.
One-third of one mile will be replaced where a pavement crack forced the road closure.
The crack, discovered last August, was along a guardrail next to an 18 foot ditch…which caused the ground behind the guardrail to drop one and a half feet.
The county engineer told WTAW News last month the new road, which was originally built on a railroad bed, will be lowered by an average of six to eight feet.
The major repairs are not expected to start at the earliest, until the end of September.
