College Station City Council Approves Northgate District Study

As the first year ends of traffic and parking changes in the Northgate district, the College Station city council at its last meeting approved a $188,000 dollar consultant’s study.

Community services director Debbie Eller says the study follows continued challenges after completing several projects last May.

Eller reported an $85,000 cost to close Boyett on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. And lost parking revenue to accommodate ride sharing and passenger pickup/dropoff zones is just over $100,000 dollars.

The consultant’s study will include data collection and contact with stakeholders that will generate possible changes in public areas to improve mobility around what is College Station’s most congested area and the area with the city’s highest property value.

Eller says the consultant’s study will be done by October.

And any changes that are implemented will take three to five years to complete due to budget restrictions.
