Most motorists using Arrington Road south of Fitch will be making detours this summer.
That’s after Brazos County commissioners this week approved a construction contract to rebuild the two lane road through the new Ranch and Margraves housing developments.
County judge Duane Peters and county engineer Prarthana Banerji explained the timing of building the road to stand up to heavy truck traffic and why the decision was made to not acquire the additional right of way to add a center turning lane.
Banerji said weather permitting, construction will start in two months and take five months to complete.
During construction, road and bridge operations director Gary Arnold says the only access to Arrington Road will be to motorists who have driveways.
Arnold also says affected property owners will be directed to online information that will provide project updates.
