TxDOT Bryan District Office Announces Two Public Meetings In April

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Bryan district office has announced two public meetings in April regarding upcoming highway projects in College Station and Leon County.

Those interested in learning more about the widening of Harvey Mitchell Parkway between Raymond Stotzer and Wellborn Road are invited to a gathering on April 2 at the VFW post in Bryan. Construction is currently scheduled to start in the fall of next year. The $40 million dollar/three mile project, which will take two years to complete, will expand Harvey Mitchell to three lanes in each direction. Improved intersections and shared use paths will also be built.

On April 11th, TxDOT will hold its second gathering at the Jewett Civic Center to receive public comments about widening Highway 79 to four lanes from west of Jewett to Interstate 45 in Buffalo. The ten mile project would also include a new bridge for FM 39 over 79. And in Jewett the highway would continue to have one lane in each direction with a center turning lane. No date has been set to start construction.
