Ty Coleman Named SEC Freshman of the Week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M infielder Ty Coleman was named the SEC Baseball Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Coleman batted .500 for the week, going 7-for-14 with four runs, one home run and six RBI in his four games.

Seeing action at second base and third base, Coleman recorded multiple hits in all three games in the Aggies’ series victory over Gonzaga. Sunday, Coleman scored two of the Aggies’ three runs in a 3-1 win, going 2-for-3. Saturday, the rookie hit his first career grand slam to cap off a 5-RBI effort and a 2-for-5 day. He started the series going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In his only midweek action, Coleman provided a pinch-hit single in the Aggies’ 9-3 victory against Abilene Christian.

For the season, Coleman is batting .310 (13-for-42) with 10 runs, two doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI.

Off to a 15-3 start, the Aggies return to action Tuesday when they travel north for a 6:30 p.m. game against the Dallas Baptist Patriots.
