GAINESVILLE, Fla.- No. 19 Texas A&M had three players score over 20 points, beating Florida 80-62 in a women’s basketball game at Exactech Arena.
Kayla Wells led the Aggies with 24 points, following up a career-high 29-point performance on Thursday against Tennessee. Chennedy Carter scored 20+ points for the ninth time in 10 games, adding in 21, while Ciera Johnson had a career-high 21 points and added 10 boards for her first career 20-10 game.
The Aggies (21-6, 10-4 SEC) led wire-to-wire, opening the game on a 15-3 run and leading 36-17 by halftime.
Florida (6-21, 2-12 SEC) was led by Funda Nakkasoglu with 22 points. The Aggies outscored the Gators 40-16 on points in the paint and out-rebounded Florida 44-24.
The Aggies have won five consecutive games against the Gators, and nine of 10 all-time meetings.
With the win, Texas A&M now can clinch a double-bye in the upcoming SEC Tournament, held March 6-10 in Greenville, S.C., with a win in either of their last two regular season games.
Texas A&M returns to action Thursday, February 28 at No. 11 Kentucky, with tip set for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network +.
