One of College Station’s first homes built for Texas A&M professors received the city’s 100th residential historical marker at the last city council meeting.
The chairman of the city’s historic preservation committee, Gerald Burgner, said the home at 603 Guernesy Street in the College Park subdivision was built in 1932.
The first owner was E.O. Siecke of the Texas A&M Forest Service.
The second owner was the head of A&M’s mathematics department, Dr. H.A. Luther.
The third owner, A&M professor John Sperry, is the uncle of WTAW’s Saturday morning garden and landscaping show host Neil Sperry, who also lived in College Station where his father also taught at A&M.
The current owners, Chris and Emily Jane Cowen, purcvhased the home in 2012.
