Bryan Council Adds “Robot Brothels” To Restricted Areas For Adult Entertainment Businesses

Bryan city council members have closed a new loophole in the regulations of sexually oriented businesses.

A staff recommendation was unanimously approved at this week’s meeting to restrict so-called “robot brothels” to the same locations as other adult entertainment businesses.

Planning Administrator Martin Zimmerman says this is in response to a Canadian company targeting its first U.S. location in Houston.

City attorney Janis Hampton was asked about banning what takes place inside so-called “robot brothels”. She said the council could use its home rule authority or the council could wait for the state legislature to take action.

The council’s unanimous vote followed a staff recommendation in response to a Canadian company targeting its first U.S. location in Houston.
