Four Aggies Garner All-SEC Soccer Honors

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies had four players garner All-SEC Soccer recognition in voting by the conference’s coaches, the league announced Sunday afternoon.

Junior Ally Watt was named an All-SEC First Team forward for the second consecutive season. Sophomore midfielder Addie McCain and senior defender Kendall Ritchie earned spots on the All-SEC Second Team. Forward Ásdís Halldórsdóttir was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Watt finished the regular season tied for the conference lead with 13 goals. She also has three assists on the year for 29 points. In last Thursday’s 1-0 overtime win at South Carolina, Watt scored the game-winner in the 100th minute to move into 12th place on the Aggies’ career goals list with her 31st tally. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2018 (10/15 and 10/26).

McCain, a 2017 SEC All-Freshman Team selection, has played in all 19 games, including 17 starts. She has 12 points on the season with five goals and two assists.

Ritchie, who also earned second-team all-conference status in 2017, has played every minute of the season on the Aggies’ backline. She leads the team with seven assists and she has added three goals for 13 points on the season.

Halldórsdóttir played in all 19 games as a rookie, including 17 starts. The Reykjavik, Iceland, native ranked second on the Aggies with 13 points on four goals and five assists. Halldórsdóttir was named SEC Freshman of the Week on two occasions (8/27 and 10/15). She was tapped to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week Honorable Mention on Sept. 11.

Texas A&M finished the regular-season with a 15-3-1 overall mark and the Maroon & White finished third in the SEC with a 6-3-1 mark.

The Aggies begin play at the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala., Tuesday with a 2:30 p.m. contest against No. 6-seed South Carolina.
