COLLEGE STATION – Five members of the 2018 Texas A&M softball team were recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as All-American Scholar-Athletes, it was announced Wednesday.
For the second consecutive year, Riley Sartain and Tori Vidales were honored by the organization. Blake-Ann Fritsch, Maddie MacGrandle and Abby Smith garnered the award for the first time in their career.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have earned a 3.5 grade-point average for the 2017-18 academic year.
As a team, Texas A&M was recognized for its cumulative GPA of 3.164. The program recently received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for scoring a perfect 1000 in the most recent Academic Progress Rates.
