Portion Of I & GN Road In South Brazos County Is Closed

A Sunday drive resulted in Monday’s closure of I & GN Road between North Graham and Capstone.

Brazos County judge Duane Peters says a consulting engineer noticed a pretty good sized crack running down the road.

Closing the road came after recommendations from the county road and bridge department and a second outside firm.

Peters says they are taking samples of the road in hopes of determining the cause of a crack that’s several inches wide and fairly deep.

The judge says the crack came out of nowhere, giving county road and bridge crews no opportunity to make repairs.

There’s no time estimate to receive test results of the road which was built on the base of a former railroad.
