A College Station man is in jail after leading local law enforcement on a 42 minute chase early Tuesday morning.

18 year old Roderick Merchant Jr. was arrested by College Station police on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, and DWI.

According to a CSPD news release, officers responded shortly before 2 a.m. to a home on Detroit…south of Holleman and west of Welsh…for a 9-1-1 hangup.

Merchant is accused of pushing down a family member and leaving the home in a vehicle that did not belong to him.

20 minutes later, officers responded to multiple calls of a wrong way driver on Texas Avenue.

Once the vehicle was found, it was chased by CSPD, Bryan and Texas A&M police, and DPS troopers in College Station and Bryan.

The pursuit ended in College Station when the vehicle struck the Manor Inn hotel building on Texas near Southwest Parkway. No guests were injured.

As of midday Tuesday, no bond has been set for Merchant.
