Prison For Domestic Violence Burglary, Punching An ER Nurse, And Skipping A Court Appearance

A Brazos County jury convicted and a district judge sentenced a Bryan man for domestic violence after breaking into the home of the mother of their four year old child. 31 year old Roderick Turner was given 20 years in prison for the assault that happened in College Station in May of 2015. According to the district attorney’s office, Turner repeatedly punched the woman in front of the child. During the assault, the child attempted to get help by using his mother’s tablet computer. The DA’s office also noted Turner previously went to prison for deadly conduct.

A Bryan man has admitted to drunk driving then punching an emergency room nurse while being treated for a broken nose. The Brazos County district attorney’s office announced 35 year old Merwyn Mexicano was sentenced to eight years in prison for the DWI and assaulting the nurse at College Station Medical Center in May of 2016. That was after the Mustang that Mexicano was driving struck a tree outside Layne’s Chicken on Texas. Prosecutors also stated Mexicano was previously sentenced to prison in New Mexico for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A Bryan man facing five years in prison has been sentenced to 18 years. According to the district attorney’s office, that’s after 34 year old Charleston Jones failed to appear at his original sentencing hearing in November 2016. Jones, who pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm, has been in jail since he was arrested last December. In addition to the punishment for having a gun that went off during a fight in a Bryan bar in June of 2014, the sentence also includes a conviction for felony bail jumping.
