There won’t be a second year of a teacher pay incentive plan in the Bryan school district.
That’s after final board action on Monday to distribute to all teachers, the $1.5 million dollars originally planned in “BEST” incentives.
Superintendent Christie Whitbeck says campus administrators supported a change during a recent meeting to raise all teacher pay by $1,000 dollars or two percent…whichever is more.
Dr. Whitbeck said continuous changes by the state in accountability standards was another reason to suspend the incentives.
Whitbeck also pointed to state lawmakers to give more money next year to reinstate teacher bonuses.
Whitbeck says teachers who qualified for bonuses under the district’s “BEST” plan last year will receive those bonuses.
