A Bryan area man has admitted to driving while intoxicated for the fifth time. According to online court records, 60 year old Rodolfo Diaz Jr. was sentenced to six years in prison. Diaz was arrested by Bryan police last November following a citizen’s report of a reckless driver in the area of Highway 21 and the freeway. According to the arrest report, Diaz said it was the first time he had drank in 12 years, because he was upset following the death of a friend. The arrest report stated Diaz had one prior conviction in Brazos County, one in Refugio County, and two in Hildago County.
A College Station man is headed to prison for the third time. According to the Brazos County district attorney’s office, 30 year old Samuel Lee Norris violated probation from a 12 year sentence for slapping his fiance then threatening her with a knife in front of their children. Violations included moving to Texas without the court’s permission and failing to undergo drug and alcohol testing six times during a three month period last year. Norris previously served prison terms of six and ten years for drug possession.
A Brazos County district court jury found a 70 year old College Station man guilty of sexually abusing a girl from the time she was six until she was 13. Then the jury took 25 minutes to sentence Roy Fry to life in prison without the possibility of parole. According to a news release from the district attorney’s office, the girl reported the abuse because her sister had told her that Fry had started to groom her in the same way.
