College Station Forestry Office Truck Burned And Tools Stolen

The city of College Station estimates a loss of at least $175,000 dollars from a burglary and arson early Sunday morning.

College Station police and fire responded just after 2 a.m. to the area of Rock Prairie and Fitch for a vehicle fire.

The fire totaled a city owned mulch truck, similar to a dump truck. City officials said the truck was a complete loss.

Following the fire, CSPD went to the forestry office and shop on Rock Prairie, where officers discovered someone took several chainsaws and other tools, including a wood chipper that had been attached to the truck.

In a city news release, assistant parks and recreation director Kelly Kelby stated “In spite of the losses sustained overnight, crews will continue their work.”
