Preventative Measures to Avoid Catching The Cyclospora Bug

Fresh produce needs to be washed, then wash your hands after that.

That’s the suggestion from health officials to reduce the risk of health problems associated with the Cyclospora parasite.

Brazos County health department educator Mary Parrish says the bug can cause watery diarrhea for a week.

Parrish also says it’s important for a doctor to confirm what’s going on.

None of the 56 cases reported to Texas officials from early May through the end of June came from Brazos County. But Parrish says one case is under investigation.
