AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ The latest witness in former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s money laundering trial was the fundraiser for the political action committee that’s at the center of the allegations.
Prosecutors expect Warren Robold to provide new insight into accusations that DeLay used his PAC to illegally funnel $190,000 in corporate donations into Texas legislative races eight years ago.
Robold is to resume testifying Thursday about his work as the fundraiser for DeLay’s PAC.
DeLay is charged with money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering. He’s denied any wrongdoing.
Charges of accepting illegal corporate contributions were dropped against Robold earlier this year, though prosecutors say he’s not testifying as part of any deal.
