A Bryan man is in jail for the second time in as many months on an armed robbery charge. The arrest report from College Station police indicated it took two people to put handcuffs on 21 year old Christian Nelson inside a retail store on Monday. Nelson, who was also charged with resisting arrest, is accused of a armed robbery on Valentine’s Day. At the time of Monday’s arrest, Nelson was out on bond following an arrest May 20 for an armed robbery on May 4. WTAW News is waiting for a response from College Station police and the Brazos County district attorney’s office on requests to provide more information about the two armed robberies. According to online court records, Nelson was released from prison early, after he was sentenced to five years in May 2016 after admitting to assaulting a Brazos County detention officer. Nelson’s bond from Monday’s arrest was set at $250,000 dollars.
A College Station police arrest report released Tuesday details the arrest of a Cypress man last Thursday night on multiple burglary charges. Officers responded to alarms going off at Briggs Equipment, located along Highway 6 south of Fitch. 19 year old Jason Robinson told officers he ripped the alarm system off the wall and used a sawzall to break into a safe where he found $220 dollars. As Robinson was about to leave, he told officers “God spoke to him…told him it wasn’t meant to be…and he needed to leave.” A search of Robinson’s truck led to finding property reported stolen to the Brazos County sheriff’s office, and property from a burglary in Navasota.
Bryan police received public assistance in tracking down a Navasota man who is accused of fighting his girlfriend, then taking her car and leading officers on a chase where the drivers of at least two vehicles took evasive action to avoid a collision. According to the arrest report, the girlfriend said an argument started Monday as she was driving from Navasota to work in west Bryan. She said 25 year old Jose Garza cut his arm with a razor to prove his love for her, then accused her of being unfaithful. Outside the business where she works near Harvey Mitchell and Shiloh, the woman said he took her phone then drove away in her car. With the help of private citizens, Garza and the car were found in a driveway behind Jane Long intermediate school. Garza was arrested on new charges of evading arrest and driving with an invalid license with prior convictions. Garza was also wanted on a parole violation for burglary of a habitation. And his driving record has nine active suspensions.
Multiple College Station police officers were involved in arresting a 13 year old Monday night. According to a CSPD news release, officers responded to a disturbance on Bosque Drive where the teen is accused of hitting family members with a hammer and threaten them with two knives. The first officer to arrive fired his Taser, which did not affect the teen. Then there was a fight between the officer and the teen, which resulted in minor injuries to both. The teen was charged with family violence aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assaulting a public servant, and misdemeanor family violence assault.
