Three people were taken to the hospital following two crashes that closed the northbound lanes of Highway 6 most of Tuesday afternoon near Texas World Speedway.
DPS trooper Jimmy Morgan says the first crash happened when a SUV hydroplaned and struck a concrete barrier.
Morgan says as other motorists were slowing down, the driver of a garbage truck did not slow.
That caused the garbage truck strike the rear of a car and the car rear-ended a semi-trailer.
The garbage truck rear-ended the car with enough force that the garbage truck flipped on its side.
Morgan says the drivers of the SUV, the car, and the garbage truck were taken to the hospital with undetermined injuries.
