Update from Bryan police:
The deceased has been identified as Pete Flores Jr. age 51 of Bryan.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified, but has not been located at this time.
And there will be road closures Wednesday between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Coulter from Ettle to E William J. Bryan and the outside lane of E. William J. Bryan.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
Original news release from Bryan police:
On May 2, 2018, at 0156 hours, Bryan Police Officers responded to the report of a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Coulter Drive and East William Joel Bryan (WJB). Officers discovered a Chevrolet pickup had been travelling north on Coulter Drive when it left the roadway. The passenger side of the pickup struck a tree. The driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene prior to police arrival. The Bryan Fire Department responded to assist with the removal of a Hispanic male passenger who was found deceased at the scene.
Investigators with the Bryan Police Traffic Safety Unit and Criminal Investigations Division are working to determine the cause of the collision. The identity of the deceased will not be released until the family has time to make notifications.
