Community Foundation Of The Brazos Valley Holds Its 15th Tribute Luncheon

15 years ago, local residents organized the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley.

A member of that group was among those honored Monday at the foundation’s annual tribute luncheon.

Attorney Larry Holt, who was recognized with his wife Judy, also congratulated the other recipients…Ron Schmidt of Texas Commercial Waste and Texas A&M’s Corps of Cadets commandant Joe Ramirez.

Remarks also included references to Sam Sharp, who announced when he received the Bryan/College Station chamber of commerce citizen of the year award in 2002 his intention to establish the foundation.

During 2017, the foundation more than doubled its assets, to over $8 million dollars.

Last year, the foundation distributed more than $114,000 dollars in grants and scholarships to non profit charities and higher education institutions.
