News release from the Bryan school district:
After serving Bryan ISD for more than 25 years, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Amy Drozd has announced she will retire in June. Drozd oversaw a broad scope of services and navigated the constantly changing landscape of school finance with respect and high regard from board trustees, superintendents, parents and staff. Drozd managed the District’s business services division for 18 of her 25 years in Bryan ISD, leading three major bond initiatives (2005, 2008 and 2014) plus a successful 2017 Tax Ratification Election that passed with more than 90 percent support. That initiative generated an additional $4+ million of revenue annually to support teaching and learning in Bryan.
“It’s bittersweet to think of Bryan ISD without Amy Drozd,” Superintendent Christie Whitbeck said. “We’re excited about Amy enjoying the next phase of her life, but she will be greatly missed. She is among the highest regarded school CFOs in the State of Texas, and we will miss her knowledge and deep strategic understanding of school finance. Amy has been a valued contributor in the overall leadership of Bryan ISD, even beyond school finance, and we are excited that she has offered to continue assisting us in support and advisory roles after retirement.”
Drozd said she is excited to spend more time with family and travel. She will officially retire in June.
The Assistant Superintendent of Business Services position has been posted to potentially allow time for Drozd to transition her replacement into the role.
