Texas A&M Alumnus Rick Perry Visits The RELLIS Campus

Former Texas governor and current U.S. energy secretary Rick Perry paid a visit to his alma mater Friday.

During a stop on the A&M system’s RELLIS campus, Perry says he promotes federal agreements with A&M whenever he can.

Perry, who toured the system’s new Center for Infrastructure Renewal, noted A&M has an agreement with India regarding electric grids and he is excited about the possibilities of future partnerships involving the RELLIS campus.

In remarks provided by the A&M system, Perry says he’s excited about President Trump’s $1.5 trillion dollar infrastructure plan.

One part of the president’s infrastructure plan has the concern of a Brazos Valley state lawmaker. Representative Trent Ashby, whose district includes Madison and Leon counties, has sent a letter to senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz and congressmen Bill Flores, Kevin Brady, and Louie Gohmert. Ashby called on the federal lawmakers to oppose any effort to spend federal dollars on Texas Central’s high-speed rail project and oppose any movement to allow a high-speed rail project eminent domain authority.

Secretary Perry also shared the story of how he has gone through three Texas A&M class rings.
