On June 30, the longtime president of the Bryan/College Station convention and visitors bureau (B/CS CVB)…now known as Experience Bryan/College Station…left the agency.
In September, WTAW News asked the agency for a copy of the separation agreement with Shannon Overby.
While Experience B/CS initially declined to release the agreement, maintaining it was confidential information, the agency provided that and other documents following an opinion by the Texas Attorney General’s office.
The documents provided by Experience B/CS does not show the agency’s general board or executive board voting to give Overby more than $92,000 dollars between July 15th of this year and March 31st of next year.
Overby will get nine months of salary, which is almost $80,000 dollars…along with $12,500 for 24 and a half days of unused vacation. And there is an undisclosed amount to cover Overby’s health, dental and life insurance and retirement plan.
The separation agreement limits the response Experience B/CS could give to Overby’s prospective employers to when she was employed, her title, and that she retired.
Other documents provided by Experience B/CS to WTAW News includes two e-mails where Overby accused her former employer of violating a condition of the separation agreement by making disparaging remarks.
The first time, Overby says the agency threatened to cancel their contract with a company she was working for, if she became involved in the account with Experience B/CS. Overby says she was not involved nor did she wish to be.
The second time, involved e-mails to her Experience B/CS address after she left having an auto-reply message stating “Shannon Overby is no longer employed by Experience Bryan College Station.” Overby said that implied she was fired.
Experience B/CS also sent WTAW News the minutes of an Experience B/CS executive board meeting that was held last May, and Overby’s self-evaluation of her job performance last April.
After leaving Experience B/CS, Overby worked for a company involved in the travel industry for a brief time.
Overby was hired in October as director of the convention and visitor’s bureau in Conroe.
