Former Brazos County District Judge Among Four GOP Candidates Seeking House District 14 Seat

Former Brazos County district judge Rick Davis has filed for the Texas House District 14 seat.

The Bryan lawyer has also served as the judge in Brazos County Court At Law #2.

Davis is among three candidates looking to replace incumbent John Raney of Bryan, who has filed for re-election.

According to the secretary of state’s website, Sarah Laningham and Jeston Texeira of College Station have also filed.

The District 14 seat is among four Republican primaries in Brazos County to be decided on March 6, 2018.

There are two candidates running for district court clerk, four going for justice of the peace in precinct one, and three seeking the JP’s post in precinct two.

According to the secretary of state’s website, 16 other elected positions in Brazos County have one candidate.

And two incumbents have general election opponents, District 12 representative Kyle Kacal and state senator Charles Schwertner.

The filing deadline is December 11.
