Texas A&M Board of Regents Holds Special Meeting to Discuss Hiring of New Football Coach

It’s still a mystery as to who Texas A&M’s next head football coach will be.

The Texas A&M Board of Regents held a special meeting Thursday afternoon to discuss the hiring of a new head coach, but no announcement was made.

The meeting opened at 2:30 p.m. and was quickly called into a closed executive session. The media were invited back in at 5:16 p.m. before Chairman Charles Schwartz called the meeting adjourned.

Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp spoke briefly following the adjournment, and says he expects another meeting to be called in the coming days.

The Board of Regents must hold a meeting within 72 hours of one being called.

Sharp added that the board has vetted several coaching candidates, not just one. Many reports say the Aggies’ top candidate is Jimbo Fisher of Florida State.

The only board members not physically present at the meeting were Tony Buzbee of Houston and Morris Foster of Belton.
