UPDATE: Three Men Arrested After Manhunt Accused Of Multiple Car Burglaries & One Arrested For Running From A DPS Trooper

Tuesday update:

College Station police announced Tuesday the three men are accused of being connected to six vehicle burglaries.

One of the three men is also being held for DPS troopers. According to the DPS arrest report, a car driven by 17 year old Felix Ponce almost hit a trooper’s patrol car after running a red light two weeks ago at Harvey Road and the freeway’s southbound service road. During a traffic stop, while the trooper was trying to identify a 16 year old passenger, Ponce ran off. A search of the car turned up several bags of marijuana and 77 bars of Xanax.

Update Monday 11:50 a.m.:

Three men were arrested this morning for theft of a firearm and evading detention.

At 4:00 a.m., College Station police responded to Rugen Lane off Brandeburg Lane for a burglary of a vehicle. The victim heard noises outside his home and saw the suspects burglarizing his vehicle.

The suspects heard the victim and fled in a late model Honda sedan. The victim told dispatchers that his 45 caliber handgun had been stolen.

About ten minutes later, an officer saw a car matching the description on Graham Road and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle turned into the entrance of the College Station Utilities Center and then into the woods where the suspects got out and fled on foot.

With assistance from the Bryan Police Department’s K-9 Unit, all three suspects were caught.

According to CSPD, items from the initial burglary were recovered, including the 45 caliber handgun taken from the initial call. Currently, a second hand gun has been recovered as well as personal items belonging to additional victims.

There has been four reported burglaries in the area of Rugen Lane this morning and CSPD officers are attempting to connect recovered property to those crimes.

The arrested subjects have been identified and charged with Theft of a Firearm and Evading Detention. They are:

1. Frank Blanco 18 year old Bryan resident

2. Fernando Funes-Cruz 18 year old Bryan resident, and

3. Felix Ponce 17 year old Bryan resident

Update as of 8:13 a.m. from College Station police:

The area around the College Station Utility Center is now open. The third and final suspect is in custody.

The College Station Police Department is currently searching the area around the College Station Utilities Center for potential burglary suspects.

Officers have shut down entrance into the Utility Center off of Graham Road and Birmingham.

The police department ask that citizens avoid the area until it has been deemed safe.
