Texas AG Rules Brazos County Courthouse Stays Off Limits To Firearms

Brazos County has won its appeal to the Texas Attorney General’s office to keep a ban on visitors with handguns from walking into the courthouse.

According to an AG’s letter to county officials, modifying the signs outside the building was all that was required.

County judge Duane Peters says he was also happy with a judge’s ruling in Waller County that continues a ban in the Hempstead courthouse.

The AG’s decision in Brazos County and the lawsuit in Waller County originated by complaints from one citizen who is opposed to the ban.

Peters, who supports concealed carry, wishes the ban would also apply not only to court related offices, but those that handle administrative functions.
