The city of College Station issued an update Friday morning about “Christmas in the Park”, which spokesman Jay Socol quipped on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs as “Christmas At The Ark”.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night from 6 until 10 p.m., activities will only include a tour of the park on an old-fashioned hayride (weather permitting), free cookies and hot cocoa at the pavilion, and photos with Santa inside the Parks & Recreation Office. All other scheduled activities, including the shuttle service, have been canceled. The Jingle Bell Fun Run on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1:15 p.m. is scheduled to go on and is only canceled if safety becomes an issue.

Many First Friday activities will continue according to Sandy Farris of the Downtown Bryan Association. That includes performances at the Palace Theater by groups from Texas A&M and the Bryan school district. Outside the Queen Theater at 7:30 there will be a Broadway-style tribute to the late Randy Wilson of The Theatre Company.

B/CS Christmas Parade organizers say it’s a “rain or shine” event and is only cancelled if safety becomes an issue. A final decision will be made by 12:00 noon on Sunday and will go out via social media, website, and direct email to entries.
