HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) _ Texas is set to execute a Fort Worth-area auto mechanic for the 2001 slayings of his two stepchildren.
Terry Lee Hankins is facing lethal injection Tuesday night in the state death chamber in Huntsville for the deaths of 12-year-old Kevin Galley and 11-year-old Ashley Mason.
Attorney William Harris says Hankins’ appeals have been exhausted and no last-minute attempts to stop the execution are expected.
Hankins, 34, told authorities who arrested him after a five-hour standoff that he’d killed his father and half-sister –nearly a year earlier.
He was already wanted for the deaths of the two stepchildren and his estranged wife, 34-year-old Tammy Hankins.
Hankins was tried only for the deaths of his two stepchildren, who were shot while they slept.
