Update from College Station police:

On Sunday, August 28th, 2016 at 2:00 AM officers with the College Station Police Department responded to 1101 Luther Street, apartment #1311 for a report of an assault in progress with gunshots being fired.
Upon arrival officers discovered a black male later identified as Brysen Rhodes and a Hispanic male identified as Jack Lopez lying on the concrete in the foyer just outside the apartment.
Rhodes and Lopez were both suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers entered the apartment and found a Hispanic male in the living room with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg.
There was also an uninjured white female that locked herself in the bathroom. She is believed to be the person that called the police.
Once the scene was secure police administered medical aid to all injured persons until relieved by Fire Department emergency personnel.
The injured parties were transported to the College Station Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Brysen Rhodes and Jack Lopez eventually died from their injuries. The Hispanic male that was found inside the residence was treated and released.
It is early in the investigation but based on evidence collected at the scene detectives believed that Brysen Rhodes and at least one other white male went to Jack Lopez’s apartment to either purchase narcotics or commit a robbery.
Evidence obtained during the investigation showed that Jack Lopez had planned to meet with Brysen Rhodes at apartment 1101 Luther Street apt. #1311. During their exchange a fight broke out and shots were fired by both groups involved, leaving Rhodes, Lopez and his roommate with gunshot wounds.
The unidentified white male that came with Rhodes fled the scene. He has since been identified, but not located.
Detectives are attempting to identify any other parties that might be involved in this incident.
The families of the deceased individuals have been notified. The men are identified as:
Brysen Jamal Rhodes
20 year old Black male
Resident of Wortham Texas
Jack Lopez
20 year old Hispanic male
Resident of Rosenberg Texas

Upon arrival officers discovered one Black male and one Hispanic male lying on the concrete in the foyer just outside the apartment. Both were suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers entered the residence and found a Hispanic male in the living room with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg.
Two of the men involved have died from the injuries they received during the incident. The identities are not being released until their families are notified.
College Station Police Investigators and Crime Scene are currently investigating the incident and do not believe there is any immediate danger to the public.
