Bombers Walk-Off for 17th Straight Victory

Bryan-College Station (July 21, 2016)- The Bombers scored runs in the eighth and ninth innings to keep the winning streak alive as they sweep the Generals 4-3 on Thirsty Thursday presented by WB Liquors.
The Bombers wore Top Gun 30th Anniversary jerseys sponsored by American Sleep for the Top Gun themed game brought to you by Batteries + Bulbs.
After Brazos Valley went down a run in the top half of the eighth, Garrett McCain stepped up to the plate and was hit by a pitch and then would steal second base. Anthony Herrera, who had an RBI triple in the bottom of the third, scored McCain with a run scoring single to tie the game. Herrera was 2-for-3 on the night with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Herrera would get it done on the mound as well for the Bombers as he pitched a scoreless top of the ninth to keep the tie intact. Brazos Valley would show some patience at the plate in the bottom of the ninth as Hunter Wilson got the rally started when he was plunked by Victoria. Spencer Hemphill and Ivan Estrella would take free passes to load the bases. Logan Bottrell would then provide the heroics as he hit a bloop single in front of the left fielder for the win.
The win was the second of the year for Herrera. MacGregor Hines started the game for Brazos Valley and went six innings, giving up one run and striking out five.
Brazos Valley will get two days off before heading to Plano to take on the Texas Marshals for a two game series. The Bombers next home game will be July 26th on Trophy Tuesday presented by Avant Garde-College Prep Services as they play host to the Woodland Strykers. That night Waldenbrooke Estates and Betamed will host the the 2nd Annual Grandma Beauty Pageant and Bellies in the Ballpark. Gates open at 6 pm.
