Bryan Police found themselves piecing together a puzzle Wednesday morning that left two people hospitalized, one in jail, and two criminal investigations.
It started when police say 33-year-old Carl Norwood of Plantersville and a female companion were out drinking. The couple stopped at Redline Motorsports on Highway 21 near Coulter Field around midnight. Although it’s unclear why they stopped at the business, the couple were not considered trespassers.
Police say Norwood and the woman then began fighting, causing the female to flee the scene on foot. Norwood chased after her but was hit by a westbound drunk driver on Highway 21. Norwood was taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center but is expected to survive. The woman was treated for injuries she received in the fight.
The alleged drunk driver, 34-year-old Rachell Pack of Bryan, fled the scene, but later notified police. She was arrested on a charge of intoxication assault. Pack was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
