LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) _ An arrest affidavit says a Texas Tech football player who was kicked off the team earlier this month stole at least seven guns after burglarizing a home in December.
The affidavit says Robert James Castaneda told investigators he broke into the Lubbock home on Dec. 20 and took a safe with seven weapons.
Investigators say they were led to Castaneda after one of the stolen weapons was found in a pawnshop.
Castaneda is free on bond after being arrested Friday on a charge of burglary of a habitation. A phone number listed for Castaneda was disconnected, and court records don’t list an attorney for him.
Lt. Ray Mendoza says Lubbock police are investigating the possible involvement of two other people and waiting to present their findings to a grand jury.
