Texas A&M sophomore Maddie Szeryk was named First Team All-SEC, the league announced on Tuesday as it revealed its 2015-16 women’s golf awards. Szeryk becomes the first A&M golfer to win be named First Team All-SEC twice, and is the first A&M golfer to be selected to the all-conference first team since 2011-12.

In addition, A&M junior Callie Scheffler was named to the SEC Community Service Team for the second consecutive year. Scheffler is president of A&M’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and has been involved with the Big Event, Hard Hats for Little Heads, Aggie Athletes Involved and Aggies CAN. In addition, Scheffler is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, YMCA CHAMPS and Habitat for Humanity.

Szeryk’s 72.27 stroke average ranks third in a single season at Texas A&M, only trailing Marijosse Navarro‘s and her own 2014-15 season. Szeryk, who finished in the Top 10 of the SEC Championship for the second consecutive year, becomes the first Aggie with back-to-back first team all-conference selections since Katerina Ruzickova earned that distinction in 2011 and 2012.

Scheffler is 58th in the SEC with a 76.63 scoring average, and has five career par-or-better rounds, including a clutch even-par 72 in the second round of the SEC Championship this season, helping the Aggies finish in the top 4 for the second straight year.

The Aggies, making their 16th consecutive NCAA appearance, host the NCAA Bryan Regional from May 5-7 at Traditions Club.
