IRVING, Texas- Texas A&M sophomore Maddie Szeryk is five holes away from making her first LPGA cut, sitting at +1 for the tournament at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout at Las Colinas Country Club. Szeryk shot 1-under through 13 holes on Friday, before play was suspended due to weather in the Irving area.
Szeryk sits in a tie for 58th, and is one of 70 players still on the course when play was stopped. The projected 36-hole cut of the Top 70-and-ties sits currently at +1. Szeryk had four birdies in the 13 holes she completed on the par 71 / 6,462 yard course.
This is Szeryk’s third career LPGA event, but she is looking to make the cut for the first time.
Szeryk leads Texas A&M with a 72.27 stroke average this season, and has shot par-or-better in 15 of her 26 rounds this season.
Play resumes at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, with the third round beginning at approximately 11:15 a.m. The Golf Channel provides live coverage of the third round from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday.
