COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M’s Ashley Walters was named SEC Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The sophomore catcher from Kerrville, Texas went 7-for-10 at the plate with 10 RBI, including a career-high six RBI Sunday, in A&M’s sweep over Arkansas.
In the series opener, Walters went 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Aggies defeated the Razorbacks, 11-3. Walters recorded a two-RBI double in game two, before going 3-for-3 with a bases clearing double and a two-run homer on Sunday.
In SEC action, Walters is second in the league in RBI with 14 and fifth in batting average at .464.
Walters and the Aggies return to action Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CT against Stephen F. Austin at the Aggie Softball Complex.
