Women’s Golf Rallies From Seven Shots Back to Win Title in Hawaii

KANE’OHE, Hawaii- Texas A&M’s women’s golf team tied for first place in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, sharing the tournament championship with No. 10 Oklahoma State after the Aggies shot a 4-under 284 on the tournament’s final day.

The Aggies, who started the day seven shots behind Oklahoma State, rallied with a 4-under 284 to finish the tournament, and tie the Cowgirls for the championship. It is the Aggies’ fourth tournament victory or co-victory in the past two seasons, but first this year.

“I am so proud of how the team battled today,” said Texas A&M head coachTrelle McCombs. “It is incredibly hard to win a college golf tournament, and we got hot at the right moments today.”

Thanya Pattamakijsakul picked up her first career victory, and the Texas A&M women’s golf team finished second at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on the Kane’ohe Klipper Golf Course.

“I am thrilled for Thanya,” added McCombs. “Her hard work has paid off with a tournament championship.”

Pattamakijsakul, who posted a then-career best second place finish in her last outing, matched her career-best with a 67 (-5) final round, and finished the tournament at 208 (-8), winning the tournament by three strokes. She has now shot par-or-better in five of her last six rounds, and is 12-under in that span.
