College Station police report shoplifting dog food and a bluetooth speaker has become a robbery investigation.
That’s after a loss prevention employee at the Wal-Mart store was punched in the face while trying to stop the shoplifter.
The employee received minor injuries from the altercation Wednesday afternoon shortly before four.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 30’s.
Before and during Christmas break, College Station ISD received 4,400 responses to a survey about the district’s cell phone policy. Those results were reviewed during January’s CSISD board meeting. Board members agreed with superintendent Tim Harkrider’s recommendation to get more information from employees and students at College Station High and Consolidated High Schools. Harkrider also said no one is considering students being banned from having phones. Harkrider said his biggest concern is proposed state legislation that would force districts to ban students from having cell phones on campus. The 40th time that a Bryan man goes to the Brazos County jail, it is associated with a Brazos County district court jury conviction of threatening a Bryan police officer over 30 times. A news release from the district attorney’s office also says the jury convicted 49 year old Bobby Williams Jr. for evading arrest with a prior conviction. The trial judge sentenced Williams to a controlling sentence of eight years for the felonies. Prosecutors say the crimes happened after BPD responded to a disturbance created by Williams in September 2022. Online records show the jury found Williams not guilty of attempting to take a weapon from an officer. A spokeswoman in the DA’s office says Williams is awaiting three more trials in Brazos County. One is from a May 2023 arrest for felony possession of a controlled substance. Another is from a March 2023 arrest for misdemeanor resisting arrest. And the third is from a September 2022 arrest for misdemeanor resisting arrest and criminal trespassing. News release from the Brazos County district attorney’s office: On February 13, 2025, Judge Kyle Hawthorne sentenced Bobby Williams to 8 years in prison and 24 months state jail after a Brazos County jury found him guilty of Retaliation and Evading with a Previous Conviction. On September 26, 2022, Bryan Police officers responded to the area of Dunbar Drive and Manning for a civil disturbance. The first officer on seen found the defendant, who matched the description of the man causing the disturbance. The defendant then ran away from officers before being apprehended. Once secured in handcuffs, the defendant began to go on an 90 minute tirade. The defendant threatened one officer over 30 times. These threats included threats to assault the officer, sexually assault the officer, and sexually assault the officer’s wife. In March of 2023, a few months after the offense, the defendant was arrested for Resisting Arrest, where he again threatened law enforcement with physical assault. In May of 2023, the defendant was arrested once more for possession of cocaine. During the punishment phase, the State presented additional evidence of the defendant being convicted and sentenced to prison for Assault on a Public Servant, for biting an officer while they attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute. Statement from assistant district attorneys Abigail Goodman and Kara Comte: “The defendant has had a history of violence and repeated threats to police officers and their families. A Brazos County judge and jury saw the defendant’s actions for what they were and responded accordingly.”
College Station police report chasing a SUV Sunday (February 16) that began with the driver running a stop sign, continuing at speeds over 100 miles per hour on Highway 6, and ending in Hempstead after the SUV ran over spike strips that flattened the tires. The CSPD arrest report says shards of methamphetamine were found along the highway and caught in the driver’s sweater. A CSPD spokesman said the street value of the meth has not been determined. 31 year old Brad Ellwood of Bryan was arrested on charges related to the chase, the drugs, and being accused of evidence tampering for throwing the drugs out of the SUV. Ellwood remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $200,000 dollars. He was also arrested on warrants related to two felony and four misdemeanor convictions where he owed $4,465 dollars in fines and court costs. The morning of Valentine’s Day, Bryan police respond to the report of a man and woman from Humble taking more than $2,300 dollars of merchandise from the Marshall’s store. Less than 30 minutes later, the getaway vehicle was stopped by Navasota police. The BPD arrest report says 25 year old Deijah Ester and 51 year old Diallo Ester answered no questions. In addition to recovering what was stolen, officers found receipts from other stores showing credit being given for returning merchandise. The woman was also arrested on a warrant from Harris County for felony theft with prior convictions. She remains in the Brazos County jail in lieu of bonds totaling $33,000 dollars on local charges of felony theft with two or more prior convictions and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. The man was released from jail on Valentine’s Day after posting bonds totaling $8,000 dollars for felony theft and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. A College Station man was released from jail on Valentine’s Day, two days after his arrest on committing three domestic violence assaults of the same victim in 2023. The College Station police arrest report says the victim reported what happened in November 2024 to a police assistant. The victim later told a detective that she was assaulted around ten times between September and December of 2023. That included being struck 12 times with a closed fist, the man trying to break her fingers, and her head striking a wall. On February 11, 2025, the day before 28 year old Ali Saber Sichani was arrested, he told a detective that he would get upset when the victim talked to other men, which he perceived as her cheating on him. Sichani, who was arrested for continuous violence against the victim, was released from jail after posting a $10,000 dollar bond.
