Mixing miscommunication and alcohol landed the owner of a Bryan bar in jail. Police were called to the Flying “W” by Coulter Airfield Wednesday night.
Officer Jon Agnew says the bar owner went across the street, holding a nine millimeter handgun, thinking he found the man who was stalking his daughter.
The victim, who repossesses vehicles, saw a car parked at the bar. The victim parked across the street because of the crowd outside the bar. The victim said he felt in fear for his life when Thompson displayed the pistol, which was pointed towards the ground during the entire confrontation.
44 year old David Wayne Thompson, who told police he had drank five or six beers, was arrested for illegal display of a firearm and public intoxication.
Thompson also told officers he was a licensed peace officer from Robertson County, but Agnew said Thompson was in the role of a private citizen at the time of the incident.
Thompson was released from jail after posting bond.
